Life as a NAG

Vineet has always had an entrepreneurial bent, which was visible from the tender age of fourteen. Boasting of 17 years of extensive work experience in the cyber security domain, Vineet had his big break in the field when in 2003 he founded the National Anti-Hacking Group (NAG) – the first social organization to work against cyber crimes. NAG is associated with over 10,000 cyber security experts.

CyberPeace Foundation

In 2007, Vineet started with yet another unique venture – CyberPeace Foundation (CPF), one of the world’s first organization to work in the field of cyber peace and security. CyberPeace Foundation is an award-winning NGO and has evolved as leaders in cyber security and policy expertise, incubated out of Jharkhand and presently having an enormous global footprint. It was established with the core objective to work against cyber crime and be a nationalist tool in cyber warfare. CPF has involved in policy advocacy, research training related to all aspects of cyber security and cyberpeace. Present day, Vineet along with his diligent team, are striving for a better cyber environment for the nation by focusing on policy level narratives vis-a-vie goal driven incentives at grass root level. His primary focus areas being strong work ethics, social dedication and reaching out to larger diaspora makes him a successful entrepreneur. Vineet continues to server the nation through his prudent initiatives in the ever-evolving cyber threat domain.

Brief Timeline

Vineet is a TEDx speaker and guest Instructor/Faculty at National Police Academy (Ministry of Home Affairs), Railway Staff College (Ministry of Railways), Jharkhand Judicial Academy (Government of Jharkhand), Indian Institute of Management, Ranchi  (Ministry of HRD), Amity University Lucknow, State Bank of India Learning Centre (SBLC) and Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration (Govt of Gujarat).

2003– At the age of 14, founded and led Global Ethical Hackers Association (GEHA) and The National Anti-hacking Group (NAG), which was India’s first non-profit group to fight against cyber crimes with a group of 10,000+ ethical hackers. He was also well known across the Nation as the “Youngest IT Security Guru, CEO & Social Entrepreneur” and one of the world’s youngest Microsoft Certified Systems Administrators.

2006– Founded Security Brigade, one of the fastest growing Indian IT Security Company with branches across India, Australia, Middle East, Pisa (Italy), UK & United States which he exited officially in 2012 and was recognised as one of World’s Top 5 student Entrepreneur (GSEA 2010, Kansas City).

2007– With an intent to scale cyber security for netizens internationally, the pillars of CyberPeace Foundation was laid and was launched officially amidst the world’s best cyber experts at ‘ISACA Security Conference’ hosted in Palm Jumeirah, Dubai in October 2013.

2008-2012– Received Bachelors and Masters in IT from Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology, Gangtok.

2012-2013– At the age of 22, Vineet Kumar served as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) & Head of the State Government agency, Cyber Defence Research Centre (CDRC) of Jharkhand Police, Government of Jharkhand. (The youngest ever in history).

2014– Exceptional leadership capabilities led to him being selected as a Chevening Scholar (UK’s fully funded scholarship programme) for which he specialised in ‘Cyber Defence and Information Assurance’ from Cranfield University, UK.

2015– Vineet was a part of various forums such as “Cyber Security Task Force of NASSCOM-DSCI” setup by the Hon. Prime Minister of India, Indian delegation to foreign countries and Member of the Advisory Council of Public Interest Registry (PIR), USA.

2016– Vineet gave his first TEDx talk on Cyber Vigilante and subsequently became a guest Instructor/Faculty at National Police Academy (Ministry of Home Affairs), Railway Staff College (Ministry of Railways), Jharkhand Judicial Academy (Government of Jharkhand), Indian Institute of Management, Ranchi  (Ministry of HRD), Amity University Lucknow, State Bank of India Learning Centre (SBLC) and Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration (Govt of Gujarat).

2017– With the mission statement of “Aware Women, Aware Family”, CPF collaborated with Google to train 500 mothers in the state of Jharkhand & Telangana.

Selected as one of the five leaders from India by the US Govt for International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP)

CPF wins the prestigious “Emerging NGO of the Year – 2017” at CSR Submit & Award.

Published a handbook on “Cybercrimes and Investigation Methodologies for LEAs” along with the multiple SOPs and guides against the ransomewares and malwares.

With the vision of Global CyberPeace, Vineet launched the world’s largest Cyber Security Challenge – The Global CyberPeace Challenge jointly organised by CPF & MeitY, Govt of India.

He initiated the collaboration with UNICEF to train Police officers of 8 states across the country on “Investigating Cyber Crimes Against Children”, which continued further in many other states.

To understand the rationale behind the formulated laws and to bring the public closer to Govt to help them create relevant policies, a National Dialogue on CyberPeace “Securing Cyber Space” with PPF was initiated.

2018– A series of CyberPeace Centre of Excellence established in different parts of the country.

CPF in collaboration with NCW and Facebook launched an initiative “Digital Shakti’ to empower women across the country against cyber crime.

‘Cyber Trivia’ a game for adolescents was launched in collaborations the NCPCR.

Capacity building of LEAs was initiated with Google & DSCI on “Cyber Crime Investigation” in 5 states.

Second successful year of National Dialogue “Securing Cyber Space”.

CyberPeace Center of Excellence at VJTI won the Best Project Award at the Global Blockchain Congress 2018.

Invited as panelist at the Commonwealth Business Forum, London, UK.

2019– Launched the eRaksha Competition for students, teachers and parents with the theme Online Safety in collaboration with NCERT, Ministry of Education, Govt. of India.

Invited as a panelist on End Human Trafficking Day jointly organised by UNODC, UN Women India and Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India.

Invited as the moderator for the panel discussion on ‘Cyber Ethics and CyberPeace’ at the Embassy of Switzerland to India and Bhutan.

CyberPeace Foundation qualified as on the Semi-finalists for the SKOCH Order of Merits.

CyberPeace Foundation won the NASSCOM-DSCI Excellence Awards 2019 for its efforts towards CyberPeace.

2020– Launched the ever Hackathon for Police officials of the country in collaboration with National Crime Records Bureau, Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt of India.

The second phase of Digital Shakti was launched with a target to empower 1 laksh women across the country.

The second edition of Global CyberPeace Challenge was organised with the support of Meity, Govt of India, eSafety, Govt of Australia, DFAT, Govt of Australia along with partnerships from Industry, Academia & Civil Societies.

CyberPeace goes global with the establishment of CyberPeace Center of Excellence at Nigeria.

Taking a leap forward, CyberPeace Foundation organised the first International CyberPeace Dialogue.

Invited as speaker on “Landscape of Cybercrimes against children” at Cyber Psychology Conference. The event was jointly organised by Ahaan Foundation and CyberPeace Foundation and supported by Human Touch Foundation.

Invited in the jury panel of the Global Mobile Awards at the Mobile World Conference, Barcelona.

Invited as a panelist to discuss different forms of abuse women go through in the cyber space hosted by National Commission for Women, Ministry of Women & Child Development, Govt of India.

2021– Launched the second CCTNS Hackathon & Cyber Challenge with NCRB, Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt of India.

Collaborated with the WhatsApp to sensitise adolescents in 5 states across the country on “Cyber Ethics and Online Safety”

Collaborated with Sri Sri University to launch the First Sri Sri School of CyberPeace to strengthen the global CyberPeace ecosystem through the research and innovation focused educational framework in sync with the initiative from CyberPeace Foundation.

Launched the project eSaksham with AICTE, Ministry of Education, Govt of India to train 5 lakh students and faculties across the country with a goal to create a pool of 500 industry ready professionals.

Vineet Kumar is an award winning serial social entrepreneur, social activist and a recipient of 8 International, 18 National, 13 State awards.
